More People Watched Obama Ad Than World Series
If Barack Obama fails to win the election, perhaps the networks should hire him to entertain viewers on Wednesday nights.
Obama’s 30-minute primetime infomercial was seen by 33.6 million viewers across seven networks — including CBS, NBC, Fox, Univision, MSNBC, BET and TV One.
That’s 70% more people than watched the conclusion of the World Series last night on Fox (19.8 million). Clearly, Obama vs. McCain is more compelling to viewers this week than Phillies vs. Rays.

I Voted
Something very interesting I found out when voting for the first time in Texas. When you first start it gives you the option to vote the straight party line and not have to select each individual candidate. I guess for those of you that go in saying “I am a democrat” and only want to vote for the democrats it sure does save you a lot of time. Or if you are a republican for that matter.

Apple to oppose anti-gay marriage ballot question
Apple has joined Google in publicly opposing a California ballot initiative that would deny marriage rights to same-sex couples.
The company announced Friday that it would donate $100,000 to the No on Prop 8 campaign, which opposes a measure to ban gay marriage that California voters will consider a week from Tuesday. Google has also spoken out against the ballot measure.
“Apple was among the first California companies to offer equal rights and benefits to our employees’ same-sex partners, and we strongly believe that a person’s fundamental rights–including the right to marry–should not be affected by their sexual orientation. Apple views this as a civil rights issue, rather than just a political issue, and is therefore speaking out publicly against Proposition 8,” the company said in a statement posted to the Hot News section of its Web site.

McCain aide: Palin’s ‘going rogue’
ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (CNN) — With 10 days until Election Day, long-brewing tensions between GOP vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin and key aides to Sen. John McCain have become so intense, they are spilling out in public, sources say.
Several McCain advisers have suggested to CNN that they have become increasingly frustrated with what one aide described as Palin “going rogue.” … “She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone,” said this McCain adviser. “She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family or anyone else.”
McCain sources say Palin has gone off-message several times, and they privately wonder whether the incidents were deliberate. They cited an instance in which she labeled robocalls — recorded messages often used to attack a candidate’s opponent — “irritating” even as the campaign defended their use. Also, they pointed to her telling reporters she disagreed with the campaign’s decision to pull out of Michigan.

Agony of Defeat
We opened our 10th podcast with the sadness of another Bears loss, a Cowboys loss, and the agony that Jen can’t stop watching 90210. I believe she was heard saying “I can’t quit you.” We rolled right into her box to get things going and it was a full box this week. First up, Californication, which I happened to see about 5 minutes of, but Jen and Brian watched. Jen loved it proclaiming it to have been even better if this was the season opener. Brian agreed that the episode was very good. I was disappointed because last week they both promised me sex with this show…and I saw none in 5 minutes.
Next was Dexter, to which Jen admitted to cheating and watching today’s episode as well. She said she has trouble sleeping with visions of Dex’s eyes in her mind. She and Brian agreed the show continues to excel. Then Entourage, which everyone complains is to short, was an episode in self-discovery and mushrooms, much like Obama’s time at Occidental College in California. We moved on to How I Met Your Mother, which conveniently was about moving from New York to New Jersey. I have been to both places….and I live in LA. Dirty Sexy Money was next up. After last week’s episode, Brian could not pull himself to watch it. Jen saw it, however my wife watched it without me so I could not comment yet. She thought it was great with a lot of twists and turns. I look forward to seeing it.
Finally, we come to Jen’s heroin. 90210. Like a fiend, Jen just can’t put the remote down. She continues to watch it, even though each week she says its the last time. It’s like a boyfriend who cheats on her but she keeps going back….Now Kelly and Brenda have left, which Jen thinks makes the show even better. Of course, Fab, Chris, and Brian, we have self-dignity so we wouldn’t know because we aren’t watching!
We moved on to the discussion of a wide range of topics including some Porn. Discussing Delta’s policy to attempt to prevent porn sites being viewed on aircraft wifi. Brian was in favor of it saying that one person could cause some serious civil lawsuit damages. Chris commenting that he has yet to see someone break out a Playboy in flight even though they are sold in the airport stores. It was also noted that anyone who wants to could just bring it on their IPod or laptop but so far no one has. We shall see what hapens, although porn restrictions are hard to come by……
Chris issued his overwhelming support for Ford’s decision to install new restrictions and special keys for cars that teens may drive. The cars will be governored to 80 miles per hour and will have volume control on the stereo. Although it was noted that IPods are killing youth hearing already, Brian would not hear that argument without factual evidence. Chris though has already put money aside for hearing aids and the Ford car for his daughters. Speaking of IPods we discussed the EU’s decision to force battery replacement capabilities which will affect IPods. Within the next few years, EU will require all batteries to be accessible to be recycled. Chris was not in favor, while Brian and Fabio have no issue with it.
What all the guys were in agreement, Google Goggles was a good idea. The aspect of testing you prior to sending an email when you may be intoxicated is a new addition. Brian felt it would be better for him if it detected his anger. On more than one occasion after sending a scathing email message, Brian has said to himself “Why did I just do that?” All agreed it was an interesting concept though.
As more chatter continued over our Facebook pages and Bowling Buddies scores, the talk of the ads in the games was taken up. Google is using Ad-Sense now in many of the “Playfish” games we play online. Although, I rarely pay attention to the ads, I find it a suitable place especially in free games. Although I think gaming companies could make a fortune by selling adspace within the game. In WOW, while on a quest you come to a “Trader” who has sponsors. Brian, surprisingly, was not a fan and said that Blizzard as a company probably has more respect for the Game and the gamers then to do that.
We discussed some new technology advancements in WiFi lightbulbs that will carry a signal. Essentially using light technology, the light would carry the communication. We shall see if they can shed some light on the subject. Also, we talked about Walmart inserting their foot in their mouths as they decided to keep the DRM servers online at their customers request. All four customers that is. As we are not sure about who buys there. Fabio is an Amazon purchaser whereas Chris buys CDs.
Finally, we discussed several Tech companies that could disappear. Twitter, which Fabio tries to use, Skype which we love and use for the Podcasts, and even the mighty MySpace. Facebook is booming right now and MySpace is fading. Finally, with great pleasure Fabio brought up Hustler’s filming of a porn movie titled “Naylin Paylin”. With a Sarah Palin look alike getting her backdoor knocked on by two Russian solders who are trying to drill her Alaskan pipeline. Meanwhile, as a young girl her Creationist professor gives her a “Big Bang Theory” no one can deny and in an effort to develop foreign relations, she calls upon the prowess of Hillary Clinton and Condi Rice for Tri-Lateral negotiations.
This, of course, not favored by Chris, led to a closing political rant about the coming dangers of an Obama administration. The “job creation” plan of increased unemployment benefits and food stamps from Pelosi, the lies of tax cuts from Obama for the middle class, and the discussion that the stock market took a hit as it showed that Obama may be President and people were moving their money to avoid his impending taxation plans.
All great news………..The agony of defeat hopefully will be felt by Obama in three weeks….
