     A landmark ruling in Denmark will see compensation awarded to 37  women after research has linked that their working overtime for over 20  contributed to their developing breast cancer.

     This is an exciting development in the understanding and validation of the theory that additional stress can cause cancer. Digestive interference, excessive levels of stress hormones and a lack of self-nurture have all been attributed to women developing this disease. Disruption to circadian rhythms can inhibit the production of melatonin, an agent that helps to fights cancer. It is not just the stress that triggers the disease but the bodies reaction to long-term stress that can create an imbalance

     Surely the overtime wasn’t compulsory, people do have a free choice even though jobs are hard to find.  The important message that should be absorbed from this finding is that our forever-increasing working hours are unhealthy. Corporations should provide nap beds for employees, meditation rooms and restrict working hours. Women especially need these ideas applied as recent research indicates that women are doing an average of 91 hours of labour a week. When juggling full time work and home commitments this is not surprising. However the decision to award compensation is a worrying precedent for employers, as the common act of over time is now being associated with cancer! If this is to be the potential outlook people will be able to sue their employer as they develop arthritis and RSI as a result of hard physical work, heart disease from bad canteen food and cancer from assignment deadlines. Maybe its just work that causes these tumours, actually I think I’ve got one popping up now.

Major porn distributor Vivid Entertainment has just fired off a letter to Nadya Suleman, offering her 1 million bucks to star in a skin flick of her own. Vivid is willing to go one step further, by telling us they’ll give her family full medical and dental insurance if she becomes a “contract girl”… meaning she’ll have to do multiple videos.

Topless coffee shop opens in central Maine – Boston.com.

VASSALBORO, Maine—A topless coffee shop that raised the ire of many residents of a small central Maine town is open for business.

The Grand View Topless Coffee Shop, located at the site of the former Grand View Motel, opened its doors Monday on busy Route 3 in Vassalboro. A sign outside says, “Over 18 only.” Another says, “No cameras, no touching, cash only.”

Cops clock man driving 137 mph in ’93 Honda Civic.

GREENVILLE, N.Y. – State police have ticketed an upstate New York man for driving more than twice the 65-mph speed limit on an interstate highway. Troopers said a 21-year-old man was clocked doing 137 mph on Interstate 84 in Orange County on Tuesday. He was pulled over in the westbound lanes near Exit 2 in the town of Greenville, on the New Jersey border 60 miles northwest of New York City.

Troopers said the man was driving a 1993 Honda Civic.
